American rapper Remy Ma’s son, 23-year-old Jayson Scott, was on Wednesday (June 19) arrested and charged with murder in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred in 2021.

According to reports, Scott surrendered to authorities in New York City after a warrant was issued for his arrest. Scott was charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, reckless endangerment, and criminal possession of a weapon.

His alleged accomplice 22-year-old Richard Swygert was charged with first-degree murder, reckless endangerment, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.

The incident in question took place in 2021 when Scott allegedly shot and killed 47-year-old Darius Guillebeaux. Police from the 113th Precinct responded to a 911 call of a man shot, finding Guillebeaux unconscious and unresponsive with multiple head and chest gunshot wounds.

Guillebeaux had been arrested 13 times prior and served three jail terms, according to reports.

The news has sent shockwaves through the community and left many questioning the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Scott has been the subject of intense scrutiny since the incident, however in a statement to TMZ, Remy Ma said that she and her family stand by Jayson’s innocence.

The ‘Conceited’ rapper, revered for her contributions to the rap industry, has faced her own legal troubles in the past, including a high-profile conviction for assault in 2008.

As the case against Scott unfolds, prosecutors are expected to present evidence and witness testimony to support the charges against him.
