Tottenham Hotspur is in a relegation dogfight, and the question is, does it have the character to claw its way out of the drop zone?

It was another woeful performance by Tottenham today (March 1) at Craven Cottage. This was the second loss in a row for interim head coach Igor Tudor.

He changed his back line formation to four in defence this week, and still it was penetrated time and time again. Tottenham’s midfield is still unable to supply its strikers and lacks creativity.

Igor Tudor says this is a good team with notable players. That is very suspect.

Spurs were down 2-0 inside the first 34 minutes, and one got that deja vu feeling.  They looked unlikely to get a result out of this game.

When Harry Wilson scored Fulham’s first goal in the seventh minute, alarm bells went off.

This was shaping up to be Spurs’ tenth EPL game without a win. They have yet to chalk up a victory this year, and we are now in March..

Both Xavi Simons and Conor Gallagher were ineffective today and should have been hooked far earlier.

Dreadlocked Alex Iwobi scored a brilliant goal from thirty yards with a precision strike on the far post, making it 2-0.

Spurs began the second half facing an uphill task. Past form meant this would be yet another beating.

Fulham thoroughly outplayed them in the first half. For the better part of this season, Spurs have conceded at least two goals.

The Brazilian Richarlison scored a headed goal in the 66th minute, and there was a ray of hope. Spurs pushed higher up the pitch, risking it all for the equaliser.

Fulham should have scored more goals today and could have put Spurs to the sword.

Spurs are still in 16th position with 29 points. They were last relegated in 1977.

So why did Spurs lose again?

Igor Tudor offered this: “It’s not about the system. The system is not important at this moment. The last thing that is important is the system.

“It’s very difficult to understand because you have the quality. But also, football is a sport of running and duels. I have a sensation that Fulham players are always winning, and even with the brain. They arrive before us, they predict, and we are always late on everything.”

Today was St. Totteringham’d Day, this is the date on which it becomes mathematically impossible for Spurs to finish above Arsenal in the EPL table.
