While it managed to maintain its mobility score for 2021, Jamaica still ranks as the third-weakest passport in the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), only doing better than Haiti and Suriname.
According to the Henley & Partner’s 2021 Passport Index, Jamaica, with a mobility score of 75 ranks joint 40th in the world alongside Tuvalu, Samoa, El Salvador and Colombia. The rank takes into consideration the number of countries Jamaicans can travel without requiring a visa (43), as well as those citizens are granted visas upon arrival (32).
The 2021 iteration of the Henley & Partner’s Passport Index further noted that Jamaicans require a visa to travel to 123 countries.
Across the Caribbean, Barbados reigns supreme with the most powerful passport for the sixth-straight year with a mobility of 95, a repeat of its ranking in 2020.
Barbadian passports give citizens access to visa-free travel to 64 countries, and visa on arrival to 31 more territories.
Germany still holds the distinction of having the world’s most powerful passport, with a mobility score of 134, while Iraq, maintaining a score of 30 remains the weakest passport globally.
