Regional directors of statistics and chief statistics officers – including Carol Coy of the Statistical Institute of Jamaica – are slated to participate in tomorrow’s (April 28) live CARICOM Secretariat-hosted radio and online discussion on the Population and Housing Census.
Also among the participants on the interactive radio talk show will be CARICOM Deputy Secretary-General Dr Armstrong Alexis; and Director, Regional Statistics, Dr Philomen Harrison; directors of statistics and representatives of international development partners.
Veteran Caribbean broadcaster Keith ‘Stone’ Greaves, will host the one-hour interactive show which will be livestreamed on CARICOM’s Facebook and Youtube platforms.

This Round of Census should have begun in 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the start. The Census in the Caribbean was launched last August.
Some member states have already begun their Census activities and are in various stages of the exercise. Others have indicated they will begin their activities later this year.
Countries will use three methods to conduct the Census: Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI); Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI); and via the internet, Computer Assisted Web Interviewing (CAWI).
