Mercedes-Benz Jamaica officially launched a line of electric vehicles on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.

Silver Star Motors, under the Stewart’s Automotive Group umbrella, will be offering a range of electric vehicles (EVs) from Mercedes-Benz, including the EQE and EQS models.

Mercedes-Benz is known to offer high quality and reliability paired with innovative technologies as well as its hallmark Mercedes-Benz safety feature.

Silver Star Motors showroom is located on South Camp Road, Kingston.

Unveiled by brand sales manager Amanda Issa, the Mercedes-Benz EQE is equipped with advanced features such as a 3D driver’s display, adaptive suspension, and MBUX infotainment system.

The EQE also boasts a high-capacity battery that can be charged at the EV charger located at the Silver Star Motors showroom and other charging stations across the island.

Electric vehicles are increasingly becoming popular. Investment bank UBS Group forecasts that by 2040 half the cars sold across the world will be electric.

“We are excited for our customers to experience this exciting line of vehicles. As automotive consumers become more conscientious about the environment as well as the unique technology associated with electric vehicles, there will be greater attention towards switching from internal combustion engines (ICEs),” Issa shared.

“In an EV, you travel without producing any emissions. Consumers have a greater opportunity to contribute to climate and environmental protection by using energy generated in an environmentally friendly way. Thanks to the high and instantly available torque, you accelerate particularly powerfully – and almost silently,” The Mercedes-Benz brand sales manager added.

As for the long-term effect on the pocket, fewer worn parts will lower the maintenance costs for consumers if they should go electric.
