Tami Chin Mitchell, singer and one half of the social media personality duo The Mitchells, has announced on her social media page on Wednesday, July 19, her three-year anniversary since she quit smoking.
“Today marks 3 years since I quit smoking cigarettes! To date, one of the hardest but most rewarding things I’ve ever done,” said Mitchell on her Threads account.
The health ministry has said tobacco consumption kills eight million persons worldwide each year and costs the public health systems billions of dollars to treat.
Smoke tobacco, although it can generate a feeling of relaxation, is very addictive and harmful to the body and can cause multiple forms of cancer, increase risk of heart disease, as well as increase the risks of strokes, Type 2 diabetes, and lung diseases.
Smoking is addictive because of the nicotine in tobacco. Nicotine is a stimulant drug that affects the brain, causing it to release dopamine but become dependent over time. Smoking allows nicotine to enter the bloodstream very quickly, making the effect more intense and happen faster.

Over time, the brain becomes dependent on nicotine. This means that the person needs nicotine to feel normal. If they don’t smoke, they may experience withdrawal symptoms, such as anxiety, irritability, and difficulty concentrating. These withdrawal symptoms can make it difficult to quit smoking.
Smoking is a very addictive habit, but it is possible to quit. Let Mitchell’s milestone serve as a beacon of what is possible for anyone who smokes and wishes to quit.
