Seventh seed Zheng Qinwen of China beat German Jule Niemeier 6-2 6-1 to reach the fourth round.
“Finally I have won a match in two sets, I was focused since the beginning,” the 2024 Olympic champion and Australian Open finalist said after the match.
“It has not been easy for me here right after the Olympic Games. I don’t know if they will put me in Granstand again, I hope not. I lost against Jule in midnight in 2022 US Open third round. I am glad I am the winner today and I don’t have to cry.”
