Downtown Kingston pulsed with new energy on May 3, as the Vein Centers of Jamaica hosted a launch event for its third and latest location at 132 Harbour Street.

While the state-of-the-art facility is not yet operational, its presence marks a bold signal of the organisation’s continued commitment to expanding access to world-class vascular care across Jamaica.

Founded in 2012, the Vein Centers of Jamaica is the leading domestic provider of minimally invasive vein treatments.

With locations in Kingston and Montego Bay already serving patients from across the region, the expansion into downtown Kingston reinforces the company’s mission to make advanced medical care accessible, not just in traditional spaces, but in communities often overlooked for such investments.

“This space is still taking shape, but our vision is clear,” said Dr Bart Muhs, co-owner and director of the Vein Centers. “We are building more than a clinic. We are building trust in a community that deserves access to cutting-edge healthcare services. Chapter 3 is about reaching deeper, not just wider.”

Dr Hilary Brown, fellow co-owner and director, echoed the sentiment: “We believe downtown Kingston is ready for this kind of development — one that puts people’s health at the centre. This new location represents our dedication to both equity and excellence in care.”

Among the distinguished guests in attendance was Mayor of Kingston Andrew Swaby, who praised the investment as a symbol of the city’s ongoing transformation.

“This launch represents more than the expansion of a private medical facility. It is a signal, clear and powerful, that downtown Kingston continues to rise,” Mayor Swaby said. “Your decision to invest here is a testament that our efforts to revitalise the city are being noticed, and that world-class health services belong not just uptown or overseas, but right here in the heart of Kingston.”

The event brought together stakeholders from the medical field, government, and private sector, underscoring the collaborative spirit needed to revitalise the city’s core while prioritising the health of its people.

As work continues to prepare the facility for full operation, the leadership of the Vein Centers affirms its intention to serve patients and be an active part of downtown Kingston’s cultural and economic renewal.
