How did you celebrate this past Father’s Day? 

Did you wake your dad up to breakfast in bed? Or maybe you gifted him a new tie with custom made cuff links to match?

Whatever you did, its clear that once again, another year has passed where we’ve set aside the third Sunday of the month of June to celebrate our dads. 

Have you ever given thought however to the fact that they father us 365 days a year for all the years of our lives?

So why then, do we only designate one day to salute them? 

Hardworking and dedicated fathers deserve to be appreciated everyday and not just on Father’s Day and here’s three reasons why.

Reason #1 – Fathers carryout many roles

Fathers do so many little things for us and these little things add up to pretty big things. 

For most of their children’s lives fathers support them financially. 

When children become of age it is dad who teaches them how to drive.

Fathers play the role of protectors, even after we are able to protect ourselves.

Not to mention that they teach us how to play sports, give great advice, and they showcase to their daughters how men should treat them and to their sons what kind of men they should be. 

Reason #2 – Fathers want to feel appreciated too

Contrary to what many may believe, fathers like everyone else like to feel special and appreciated for their efforts. 

Fathers generally make us feel loved and appreciated so it is only fair that we reciprocate this energy. 

Celebrating them as often as we can will allow them to feel special and recognize that we are appreciative of all the things they do for us on a daily basis.  

Reason #3 – Fathers never stop fathering

No matter how old or grey they become, fathers never stop fathering. 

They are the friend we can always call on, the confidant who is always ready to listen, and the companion who will pick us up whenever we fall. 

That said, if they play the role of fathers all the days of our lives, the least we can do is celebrate them as often as we can. 

They never take a vacation from the role of parenting, so it should only be natural for us to want to make almost every day Father’s Day!
