The Oklahoma City Thunder bulldozed their way into the NBA Cup semi-finals, crushing the Phoenix Suns 138–89 on Wednesday (December 10), and tying the best 25-game season start in league history.
They’ve now matched the Golden State Warriors’ blistering 2015–16 pace with 24 wins in 25 outings. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander poured in 28 points at Paycom Center, extending his streak of 20-point games to an incredible 96 straight. The victory also stretched OKC’s run to a franchise record 16 consecutive wins.
Next up is a clash with the San Antonio Spurs in Las Vegas today.
The Thunder enter the matchup riding the momentum of 92 wins in 107 regular season games dating back to the start of 2024–25, a stretch that followed their 68–14 finish atop the Western Conference last season.
The Spurs punched their ticket to the semis after downing the Lakers 132–119. All games in the NBA Cup count toward regular-season standings, except the final, and OKC will be hungry to finish the job after falling short to the Milwaukee Bucks in last year’s title game.
