Last week Dr Nigel Clarke formerly demitted his post as Minister of Finance and was replaced by Fayval Williams.

He is off to take up his assignment as Deputy Managing Director of the IMF in Washington.

This post is an indication of the esteem he is held internationally and the job he did in Jamaica.

During Clarke’s tenure as finance minister, he was instrumental in seeing that no new taxes were imposed, balancing budgets except for the first year of COVID, reducing the national debt and ensuring fiscal discipline and macro-economic stability.

He will be missed and has left a big footprint for Fayval Williams to fill.

Our Today and the Appleton Circle held a farewell dinner for Dr Nigel Clarke at the Terra Nova Hotel.

Our very own Oraine Meikle brings you these photos.
