Touch down! India’s vaccine gift arrives in Jamaica

The gift of 50,000 AstraZeneca coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine shots from the Government of India have arrived in Jamaica on Monday afternoon (March 8).

The highly sought COVID-boosters landed safely at the tarmac of the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston, where it was received by Prime Minister Andrew Holness, Health Minister Christopher Tufton, Foreign Affairs Minister Kamina Johnson Smith and Indian High Commissioner to Jamaica, Shri Masakui.

“Very happy for the generosity of @PMOIndia and the people of India. Jamaica thanks you,” state minister Robert Nesta Morgan tweeted.

Prime Minister Holness is to address the nation at a virtual media briefing at 6:00 pm.
