Treasure Beach move away from JPL relegation zone with 4-2 win over Tivoli Gardens

The promoted Treasure Beach FC scored an important 4-2 win over Tivoli Gardens and moved away from the relegation zone  while Caribbean champions Mount Pleasant moved into second spot with 1-1 draw against Portmore United.

St Elizabeth based-Treasure Beach with this win moved to 26 points up to 11th spot while Tivoli Gardens are 10th on 29 points and in their sights.

Roshawn Reynolds gave Treasure Beach a fourth minute lead but Joshau Dewar pulled Tivoli levelled in the 16th minute. Rakeem Porter restored their advantage in minute 26.An own goal by Janoi Williams put Treasure Beach 3-1 up before Williams made amends scoring for Tivoli Gardens in the 54th minute. But Navardo Blair sealed Treasure Beach’s victory, netting in the 90+2 minute.

At Drax Hall in St Ann, home team Mount Pleasant wee held to a 1-1 draw by Portmore United but still managed to climb int second spot on goal difference.

In form Raheem Edwards opened the scoring for Mount Pleasant in the 11th minute but Stephen Young earned a share of the points for Portmore scoring in the 66th minute.

Mount Pleasant inched to 45 points, the same as Racing United while Portmore United stayed in fourth spot on 43 points.

Leaders Montego Bay United also played to a 1-1 draw with Arnett Gardens at Jarrett Park and increased their lead atop of the Wray and Nephew Premier League to six points sitting on 51 points.

Arnett Gardens missed another chance t really consolidate a top six playoff spot as they sit in eighth spot on 31 points. But it is still close enough being one point from the sixth-place team.

Racing United slipped a spot to third after losing 0-1 to champion Cavalier SC at the Ferdie Neita Park. Christopher Ainsworth struck for Cavalier in the 35th minute as they jumped two places from seventh to fifth on 33 points.

Racing slipped a spot to third spot on 45 points but has basically secured their top six playoff position and will be a force to be reckoned with.

Dunbeholden FC also improved their chances of making the playoffs by beating Phoenix Chapelton Maroons 1-0 Turners Oval in Clarendon. Clive Wedderburn scored the all-important winner in the 32nd minute.

Dunbeholden moved to 32 points and jumped thee places to sixth while Chapelton Maroons slipped two spots to seventh on 32 points.

The competition continues on Monday night with at double header at Waterhouse Mini-Stadium with Molynes United in 12th spot on 23 points tackle Harbour View in 13th place on 20 points.

Then Waterhouse in ninth spot on 31 points play bottom placed Spanish Town FC sitting on 18 points.
