National midfielder Tyreek Magee has signed for Mount Pleasant FA on a free transfer from the relegated Vere United.

The 26-year-old Magee is one of the most talented local footballers, having led Jamaica College to multiple football titles.

He’s highly regarded, having played in Belgium and the United States of America before returning home to Vere United last season.

Magee, who made his Reggae Boyz debut in 2019 against the USA, has not been called up for Jamaica’s World Cup qualifiers in October.

He last represented Jamaica in February 2025 against Trinidad and Tobago in a Friendly International.

With Vere relegated and out of contract, Magee said he has been training by himself for the last two months as he tries to figure out his next move.

“It was difficult for me mentally as all I wanted to do was get back playing the sport I love,” he said in a press release from Mount Pleasant.

“Mount Pleasant has built a reputation as one of the most professional and forward-thinking clubs in Jamaica, hence my decision to make the move. “I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of this project and to contribute to the team’s success,” he added.

Meanwhile, Mount Pleasant’s sporting director, Paul Christie, welcomed Magee, who has 16 caps for Jamaica.

“Tyreek is a player of immense quality and experience. He’s someone who understands the demands of top-level football, both locally and internationally,” Christie noted. “His addition strengthens our midfield and adds creativity, vision and composure on the ball. We believe his presence will elevate the level of our squad.”
