Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has congratulated presidential candidate Donald Trump’s ‘peace through strength’ doctrine, as the former U.S. president edges closer to potentially securing the necessary electoral votes to return to the White House.
In a message posted on the social media platform X.com, Zelenskyy recalled a meeting with Trump in September, where the two leaders discussed Ukraine’s strategic partnership with the United States.
Zelenskyy noted their talks on the “Victory Plan” and efforts to end Russian aggression in Ukraine. The Ukrainian president emphasised that his country is keen on strengthening its political and economic ties with the U.S., seeking to foster mutually beneficial cooperation.
“We look forward to an era of a strong United States of America under President Trump’s decisive leadership,” Zelenskyy said, underlining his confidence in Trump’s approach to international relations. He praised the former president’s “peace through strength” philosophy, describing it as a potential catalyst for bringing “just peace” closer to Ukraine.
The Ukrainian leader’s comments suggest a readiness to work closely with the Trump administration should he return to office, particularly in efforts to address perpetual security concerns in Ukraine.
