What began as a simple gathering for writers to hear their scripts come to life has grown into one of Jamaica’s most exciting creative incubators.

Unscripted Sundays, an initiative by YAAD BRIDGE Entertainment, is celebrating its first anniversary this month with a vibrant event showcasing the writers, actors, and stories that have emerged from the platform over the past year.

The anniversary event will take place on Sunday (March 29), at Johnny’s Place, 35 Dunrobin Avenue, beginning at 10:30 am. It will showcase highlights from the programme’s first year while offering a look ahead at its exciting future.

Since its launch, Unscripted Sundays has created a consistent space where writers test their scripts through live table readings with actors and an engaged audience. Over the past year, numerous scripts have passed through the programme’s pipeline, helping writers refine their work while giving actors opportunities to collaborate and develop their craft. The initiative has also begun connecting writers with local and international mentors, strengthening the pathway from script development to production.

The anniversary celebration will feature live excerpts from some of the most popular scripts presented during the past year, allowing audiences to revisit moments from the programme’s journey. The event will also include a writers’ panel discussion featuring former Unscripted Sundays writers, who will share insights into their creative process and the impact the platform has had on their development.

In addition to the readings and panel discussion, YAAD BRIDGE Entertainment will make several major announcements about the next phase of the Unscripted Sundays programme, outlining how the initiative will continue expanding opportunities for Jamaican storytellers.

The celebration will also feature special guest artiste Kenzic, along with performances by poets and dancers, creating a vibrant cultural showcase that reflects the diversity and richness of Jamaica’s creative community.

“Over the past year, Unscripted Sundays has grown from a simple idea into a meaningful creative pipeline, ” said Sherando Ferril, CEO of YAAD BRIDGE Entertainment.

“We are excited to celebrate the writers, actors, mentors, and partners who have helped build this space and to share what the next stage of the programme will look like.”
