The United States men’s national team are through to the CONCACAF Nations League final, after coming from behind to beat Jamaica 3-1 in extra time yesterday at the AT&T Stadium.
Jamaica’s goal in the first minute of play of the semi-final was levelled out by a Cory Burke own-goal in the 96th minute, following pressure from Miles Robinson on a corner kick.
Off the bench, Haji Wright had a brace of goals assisted by fellow substitute Gio Reyna in extra time to lead the United States to victory. The US will now face Mexico on Sunday in the final.
The United States dominated possession in non-dangerous areas, then struggled to find a way to breach the Jamaican defence. At the 4:52 mark, the United States began a more flowing attacking motion across the halfway line, with another ball being cleared over the endline by Michael Hector.
That led to a corner kick that went past the first defender and gave Malik Tillman a close shave before finding an unsuspecting Burke, who put it past his goalkeeper.
