In recent years, the concept of virtual vacations has gained significant traction as a new way for people to explore the world without ever leaving the comfort of their home.

Planning a vacation is a tedious process that often requires a lot of time and money. For this reason, many people wait months or even years before they can explore the crystal clear waters of small islands in the Caribbean or take a picture in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

However, with advancements in technology, people are now able to explore the wonders of the world without leaving the comfort of their homes.

A virtual vacation is an immersive experience that takes place in a simulated environment, using virtual reality (VR) or augmented reality (AR) that will transport users into a digital world that looks and feel like the real world. Through these forms of technology, users can also interact with virtual objects to have the full experience.

Have you ever wondered what it was like to see the northern lights but cannot afford to buy a ticket to Iceland or Norway? Well, by investing in technology such as VR and AR, you will be able to do so without flying to another country.

Additionally, if you have always wanted to travel but could never find a travel companion, virtual vacations could be an alternative to explore.

When travelling solo or even with company, people often have agonising safety concerns that hinder their experience. However, through virtual vacations, these concerns are limited since the experience would take place in the comfort of your own home.

Although it will not be the same as physically being in the space, virtual vacations can give you a real sense of what it would be like to explore these uncharted territories that you have on your bucket list. Then, you can decide if it will be worth the visit.

To celebrate the practice of this new way to explore, Terrance Talks Travel created a Virtual vacation day back in 2016. The day is observed annually on March 30 and is considered a holiday in the United States.

Want to join in on the experience but cannot afford the high technology that is needed? Virtual vacation videos can be found on YouTube free of cost. A free virtual tour of the Great Wall of China can even become a reality if you click here.
