Previously convicted dancehall artiste Adidja ‘Vybz Kartel’ Palmer and his co-accused will remain in police custody after being denied habeas corpus May 30, and social media is in a frenzy.
The decision was made in the Supreme Court by Justice Andrea Thomas after Palmer’s attorney applied for a habeas corpus application (requesting the court to order their custodian to bring them to court to determine the lawfulness of their unlawful detention).
Thomas noted that the deejay’s current custodial status does not infringe on the Jamaican Constitution.
After the new broke, social media has been abuzz with mixed views and reactions surrounding Palmer’s fate.
The retrial is set to begin June 10 for Palmer and the co-accused.
