Social media app Instagram posted a screenshot of the new feature ‘add song’ via its story on Thursday, August 22.
Compared to the early 2000s social networking app ‘MySpace’, songs can now be shown on a user’s profile. The music added will appear in a user’s bio area until they decide to remove it or change the song, but the songs will not play automatically. The feature is from a collaboration with pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter.
This feature is only available on the Instagram mobile app.
The feature was used to share her new single, “Taste,” from her sixth studio album “Short n’ Sweet,” which drops Friday, August 23.
To add a song to your Instagram profile, you simply have to tap ‘edit profile’ and scroll to the ‘Music’ option in the list. From there you can search for songs and select which section of the song you want to appear on your profile.
Instagram has released other surprise features to promote Carpenter’s music. Notes will turn baby blue (with a kissy face emoji if they include phrases like: ‘Sabrina or Sabrina Carpenter’, short n’ sweet, ‘brand newed it for ya’ and ‘Im working late cause Im a singer’ among others.
