Soca heavyweight Machel Montano has announced a partnership with GenXS Jamaica for Carnival 2024.

He announced the news as he made a surprise guest appearance at the GenXS Carnival Kickstarter media launch party at the Courtyard Marriott in Kingston on Monday, March 4.

Speaking at the event, Montano said: “It is an absolute pleasure to make an appearance here with the GenXS crew. I will be with GenXS J’ouvert and I will be there on the road, on the truck doing what I do best.”

“I also want to thank GenXS for the role we have played together. They are very active in Miami and helping us put the culture out there in the global market. Now the mission is to enhance carnival in Jamaica. We are only going up from here and I am very honoured and grateful to be a part of this movement.

Kibwe McGann, sponsorship director for GenXS Jamaica, shared his thoughts on the event with Our Today.

“I was very impressed with the turnout and the support we’ve gotten tonight. It just goes to show the power of the band, we had ministers and all the important players come out and say, “this is something we need to get behind,” said McGann.

“We’re really about unity and growing the space, so if we’re saying that we are the band, we have to bring the man that is synonymous with carnival and great carnival productions,” he continued.

GenXS says Machel Montano will be with the band for J’ouvert and on the road with the band for carnival.
