Law enforcement personnel from the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s (JCF) Public Safety & Traffic Enforcement Branch (PSTEB) continued Operation Transportation Streamline, this time targeting extortionists of PPV operators within the Corporate Area.
During the operation on Wednesday, October 18, seven men were arrested for extortion, breaches of the Main Road Act, and being in possession of offensive weapons. The men were arrested within the Half-Way Tree area.
The arrests of these persons are in keeping with a joint commitment by the JCF, Transport Authority and Island Traffic Authority to substantially improve safety and security of persons who operate within the public transportation sector. These operations will be across the entire island.
PSTEB has warned that persons who aim to disrupt the sector and cause mayhem will be arrested repeatedly until they earn themselves long jail time.
