
The West Indies made it three straight wins at the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup, beating Nepal by nine wickets at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, India today.
The West Indies won the toss and asked Nepal to bat and restricted them to 133-8 in their 20 overs. Then easily brush off the target, reaching 134-1 in 15.2 overs with 28 balls remaining.
The West Indies remained on top of the Group with maximum six points. England are second on four points after they defeated Scotland who are on two points, along with Italy. Nepal are pointless.
When Nepal batted, they lost Kushal Bhurtel for one run at 2-1 and struggled under tight, penetrating bowling from the West Indies throughout. Their inning never got the clearance for take-off and at 46-5, the writing was on the wall.
Dipendra Airee top-scored with 58 runs from 47 balls, batting at number four with three fours and three sixes. Tailender Sompal Kami shore up the innings, hitting 26 from 15 balls with four fours at a strike rate of 173 per cent.
Jason Holder captured 4-27 from his four overs. Akeal Hosein, Matthew Forde, Shamar Joseph and Roston Chase took a wicket each.
West Indies started brightly and never looked back, losing their only wicket at 43-1 when Brandon King went for 22 from 17 balls. Shai Hope hit 61 not out with five fours and three sixes.
Shimron Hetmyer scored 46 with four fours and two sixes as West Indies reached 134-1 and secured their spot in the Super Six at the next round.
