WhatsApp announced on Thursday, July 27, a new feature: instant video messages.
Similar to the instant voice messaging feature, locally referred to as ‘voice notes’, with instant video messages, people can record and share short, end-to-end encrypted, personalised videos directly within the chat.
Users just need to tap to switch to video mode and hold to start recording the video. Additionally, an innovative hands-free recording option allows individuals to swipe up to lock and record videos without the need to hold their device, making it even more convenient for users on the go.
According to the developers, video messages will allow users to respond to chats in real-time with all the emotion and meaning that comes from video content. The feature aims to capture and share precious moments such as birthday wishes, jokes, or news.
