Yago Castro being replaced as Carib Cement MD

It has been confirmed that Yago Castro Izaguirre is being replaced as managing director of Caribbean Cement Company Limited.

He is being succeeded by Jorge Alejandro Martinez Mora. The change will take effect on December 1, 2023. Castro Izaguirre, who has distinguished himself whilst at Carib Cement will be taking up another position within the Cemex Group, parent company of Carib Cement. 

He has held the position of general manager of Caribbean Cement Company Limited from August 1, 2019, until he was appointed managing director on December 1, 2020. Before, Castro Izaguirre held the general manager position at Arawak Cement Company Limited. 

He has extensive industrial and strategic experience, having worked for almost 16 years at Cemex in Europe, Midwest, and Central America. Prior to that, Castro Izaguirre was the Planning, Procurement and Legal Director for Cemex in Nicaragua, Guatemala, and El Salvador.

Carib Cement incoming MD, Martinez Mora, is a civil engineer with extensive knowledge and experience in the commercial, corporate, and operational fields. He has been employed with Cemex, S.A.B. de C.V. and its subsidiaries in Mexico since December 2004 and, most recently, held the position of builders segment regional director for the Cemex Group’s central region based in Mexico City. 

Carib Cement, Jamaica’s sole cement manufacturer, is welcoming Mora to the top job and has thanked Castro Izaguirre for his contribution during his tenure.
