Young Jamaica, the youth arm of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), is calling on the Integrity Commission, Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) and the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA) to investigate inappropriate tax exemption allegations which have been dogging JACDEN Company Limited and its owner who is the by People’s National Party (PNP) Member of Parliament for East Central St. Andrew and Region 1 Chairman, Dennis Gordon.
An Auditor General report and multiple media reports have confirmed that JACDEN was the multi-million dollar beneficiary of the tax exemption status reserved for the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI). Young Jamaica is calling for no stone to be left unturned in finding out whether JACDEN was knowingly complicit in an act which has essentially deprived the Government coffers of valuable revenue and by extension has possibly prevented critical services from being deployed to the people of Jamaica.

Young Jamaica is aware that the Auditor General sits on the Integrity Commission and believes that the controversy dogging Gordon’s company is suitable for an investigation by the Commission, MOCA and the TAJ. According to Young Jamaica, while the investigation takes place, PNP President Mark Golding must remove Gordon from the Public Administration and Appropriations Committee (PAAC).
