

Jamaican sprinter Sherika Jackson has been nominated for this year’s Women’s World Athlete of the Year Award.
Jackson defended her 200m in Budapest this summer, clocking an impressive 21. 41 seconds.
Jackson is among 11 other females who were nominated for their standout performances at the 2023 World Athletics Championships, held this summer in Budapest, Hungary.
According to World Athletics, which revealed the list of nominees on Wednesday, October 11, the women were selected by an international panel of athletics experts, which comprised representatives from all six continental areas of World Athletics. The athletes are listed below:
- Ethiopian long-distance runner Tigst Assefa Tessema
- Dutch athlete Femke Bol
- Sherika Jackson
- Kenyan middle-distance runner Faith Kipyegon
- Japanese Javelin thrower Haruka Kitaguchi
- Ukrainian high jumper Yaroslava Mahuchikh
- Spanish racewalker Maria Perez
- Ethiopian long-distance runner Gudaf Tsegay
- American sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson
- Venezuelan triple jumper Yulimar Rojas
- Bahraini steeplechase athlete Winfed Yavi
World Athletics says a three-way voting process will determine the finalists.
It said the World Athletics Council and the World Athletics family will cast their votes by email, while fans can vote online via the World Athletics social media platforms.
The results of the voting process will be revealed on the World Athletics social media platform on December 11.
