Correctional officers at the Horizon Remand Centre who stayed from their duties on Thursday (April 18), are now back on the job.

The correctional officers reportedly stayed off duties to express their frustration with stalled communication by the Ministry of Finance and Public Service over their compensation package.

This resulted in the postponement of the Klansman Gang case management hearing until July 11, as only nine members of the alleged criminal organisation were present in the Home Circuit yesterday.

A bench warrant was issued by Judge Justice Vinette Graham-Allen to have the additional 14 members present at the next court proceeding.

The Department of Correctional Services said the officers resumed their duties at approximately 1:15 pm on Thursday.

It also said it will conduct investigations in accordance with the relevant regulations.
