Minister of Education and Youth, Fayval Williams, is set to host a meeting with representatives in the private sector on Tuesday, July 16, at the UWI Regional headquarters.

The first of a series of meetings, this event will serve as a critical opportunity for the Ministry of Education and Youth (MoEY) to forge strategic alliances with private sector organisations, furthering the transformation of the education sector for national development.

“TREND aims to ensure all Jamaicans have access to a comprehensive education that enables them to achieve their full potential and contribute to our nation’s development. Engaging widely with stakeholders, especially the private sector, is crucial to transforming our education sector,” Williams said.

Williams said the ministry is focused on creating a well-rounded education system that is accessible to all.

“The Ministry remains dedicated to collaborating with stakeholders, especially in this post-disaster period, to drive education transformation. Our efforts are designed to be strategic, collaborative, impactful, and applicable, ensuring Jamaica’s education system meets global standards and contributes significantly to our nation’s economic growth,” Williams said.

The MoEY launched TREND (Transforming Education for National Development) in 2023 to enhance the quality of learning across Jamaica’s education system, from early childhood to the tertiary levels, and has since convened engagements with board chairmen, principals, teachers, and student leaders.
