Leaders Mount Pleasant PA continued their impressive form edging Waterhouse FC 1-0 as the Wray and Nephew Jamaican Premier League completed its rescheduled midweek games.

Daniel Green struck the all-important goal for Mount Pleasant in the 1st minute of play and it was enough to secure their 20th win of the season as they moved to 65 points and maintained their eight-point lead atop the standings.

The improving Waterhouse, which was losing their 10th game of the season, continue to hold onto the final playoff spot, sitting in sixth spot on 37 points. But the chasing pack are closing as Racing United moved level on 37 points following their 1-0 win over Dunbeholden FC in the first game at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex.

Tajay Grant netted the winner in the 51st minute for the promoted Racing United, which are proving to be serious contenders for a top-six playoff spot.

In the second game at the Complex, Arnett Gardens turned on the thrills, whipping Chapelton Maroon 5-0 and maintaining their second spot on 57 points.

Veteran Fabian Reid scored two late goals in the 81st and 85th minutes. But by then the game was as good as won as Jamone Sheperd (31st), Jaheim Thomas (38th) and Warner Brown (41st) had put the game to bed from the first half.

The promoted Chapelton, which was losing their 15th game from 27 matches, remained just one point above the relegation zone in 12th spot on 22 points.

Title-chasing Montego Bay United clipped Harbour View 1-0 at Catherine Hall and stayed in third spot on 52 points and looking a safe bet for the playoffs. Jourdaine Fletcher scored the winner in the 68th minute. Former champion Harbour View’s poor run continued as they are sitting in 11th spot on 24 points, just three points above the dreaded relegation zone.

Meanwhile, Humble Lion scored a most crucial win, beating Tivoli Gardens 3-2 and climbed off the bottom of the table into 13th spot with 21 points.

Stephen Barnett netted twice in the 70th and 76th minutes after Afiba Chambers had opened the scoring in the 45th minute.

Janoi Williams and Roshawn Oldfield replied for Tivoli Gardens in the 73rd and 83rd minutes but could not prevent their team from slipping to their 11th defeat of the season to be in eighth spot on 32 points.
