West Indies lost the third ODI by four wickets and the series 0-3 to New Zealand on Friday (November 21) at Seddon Park.

The West Indies, trailing 0-2 in the series, won the toss and decided to bat, and that decision didn’t go well as they crashed to 161 in just 36.2 overs.

The visitors started fairly well, losing their first wicket at 31 when Ackeem Auguste went for 17 runs, but Keacy Carty quickly followed him for a duck at 31-2, and they never really recovered.

Roston Chase top-scored with 38 from 51 balls, inclusive of three fours and a six. Opener John Campbell hit 26 from 24 balls and Khary Pierre made 22 not out from 34 balls as West Indies crumbled to a less-than-adequate score.

Bowling for New Zealand, Matt Henry captured 4-43 from 9.2 overs and was ably supported by Jacob Duffy with 2-27, and Mitchell Santner also picked up 2-27.

The home team then dashed to victory in 30.3 overs, racing to 162-6 as Mark Chapman stroked 64 from 63 balls with eight fours and two sixes. Michael Bracewell hit 40 not out from 31 balls and steered New Zealand to an easy win.

Jayden Seales took 2-35 bowling for the West Indies, Matthew Forde grabbed 2-46, and Shamar Springer got 1-16 from four overs.

New Zealand continued their wonderful home form, securing their 11th series win at home.

It was, by and large, a very good series by the West Indies despite the 0-3 series result, but once again the unit failed to click with the bat as they failed to adapt to the varying batting conditions in New Zealand.
