Russell Westbrook didn’t hold back after the Sacramento Kings dropped their 50th game of the season, letting loose on the media for what he called unfair coverage.
Following Thursday’s (March 5) 133-123 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans, which left the Kings at a league-worst 14-50, Westbrook spent over five minutes calling out reporters for their criticism.
The fireworks started when a journalist asked what the team could still achieve as the season winds down. Westbrook fired back, questioning how much reporters really knew about the team or its daily grind. Pointing at the media, he asked if they’d ever been to practices, film sessions, or spent any time with the players, adding that they often speak like they know him personally.
Westbrook made it clear he’s tired of false comments about the team and said it’s his job to defend his teammates. Even though he’s no stranger to criticism after years in the league, he challenged reporters to speak openly instead of pushing narrow narratives about the struggling Kings.
Known for his fiery personality, Westbrook’s postgame tirade reminded everyone that his passion hasn’t cooled, and he’s still ready to speak his mind on the court or off.
