Entertainment Minister Olivia Grange is congratulating musician Kabaka Pyramid for winning the Best Reggae Album award at Sunday’s (February 5) staging of Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, California.

Born Keron Salmon, the 32-year-old Kingston native edged out an all-Jamaican nominee list (Koffee, Protoje, Sean Paul and Shaggy) to cop his first-ever Grammy with sophomore album ‘The Kalling’.

The minister, in a brief statement on Monday, said, “The Grammy Awards Academy certainly heard ‘The Kalling’ from Kabaka Pyramid and was pleased with the album. Congratulations to this young reggae artiste who is winning a Grammy with only his second album.”

“I must also commend his management team. Kabaka Pyramid’s Grammy is something more for us to shout about as we celebrate Reggae Month 2023 and indeed we laud the other nominees for their efforts,” Grange mused further.
