It’s a new day and following her recent dip into the waters of everlasting life, Abihail Myrie has a lot to be grateful for.

Myrie, who is the daughter of reggae veteran Buju Banton, turned over a new leaf on Monday (November 1) after making good on her decision to get baptised.

In an Instagram post on Monday (November 1), the 21-year-old sought to share the news of what she described as the “best day” of her life with her 63,000 followers.

“It has truly been an experience. One for the books!” said Myrie. “I’m happy that I was able to document it all. I’ve fought, learned, faced public humiliation, cried, got back up, listened and trusted God. All in the name of Christ.”

In recent week’s Banton’s daughter has repeatedly been a subject of public discourse after making accusations of being a victim of abuse in her home, where her father and brother were purported to be the perpetrators.

No sooner had these accusations become public, the Jamaica Constabulary Force reported that a missing person’s report had been filed for Myrie.

She, however, denied these reports as being false making posts to both her Instagram and Twitter platforms. Through her attorneys, Myrie communicated that she was not missing and was only taking a breather in a safe space as she feared for her life.

Declaring herself a “Child of God”, Myrie expressed that the recent turmoil in her life “was all worth it” and that she is “better, stronger, much wiser” for having gone through the difficult patches.

“It was rough. I won’t lie. I lost a lot of friends and family along the way-some that truly came at a surprise. But I had to lose. I couldn’t go forward with them. I wouldn’t be able to fulfil my purpose and share this testimony with you all,” said the model.

Her post continued: “I’ve been my most vulnerable self, stripped of all my layers both physical and emotional in order to gain what has been so much more fulfilling.”
