Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmati has done it again, claiming the FIFA Best Women’s Player award for the third year in a row.

Meanwhile, England manager Sarina Wiegman has been named coach of the year for the fifth time.

Bonmati, 27, was a standout for Spain at Euro 2025, helping her team reach the final before falling to England and earning the tournament’s player of the tournament accolade.

At club level, she enjoyed another stellar season with Barcelona, helping the team secure a domestic treble. She scored 12 goals and provided six assists in La Liga F, and added nine goal contributions in 11 Champions League appearances, including a goal in the 4-1 semi-final triumph over Chelsea. Barcelona ultimately finished runners-up to Arsenal in the Champions League final.

Bonmati became the first player to win the women’s Ballon d’Or three times in September, having previously lifted it in 2023 and 2024. She also earned the FIFA Best award in 2023 after Spain’s World Cup triumph, and again in 2024 following a historic quadruple with Barcelona.

Other nominees for this year’s FIFA Best Women’s Player included Arsenal and Spain midfielder Mariona Caldentey and Barcelona forward Alexia Putella
