Young Jamaican sprinter Alaina Reid has signed a sponsorship deal with the American sportswear giant, Nike.
Reid is said to have inked a ‘multi-year’ deal with the popular sportswear company. While exact details surrounding the exact timeframe of the deal have not been revealed, the young sprinter has since updated her social media describing herself as a ‘Nike Athlete’.
The sprinter who recently transitioned to a professional athlete is also the newest athlete under the management of the Florida-based Auctus Global Sports.
The company in a social media post shared that: “AMP Global Sports proudly welcomes track sensation Alana Reid to the family! With her relentless determination and unrivalled passion, Alana is set to redefine the limits of excellence on the track.”
Reid gave a superb performance at the 2023 ISSA/Grace Kennedy Boys and Girls Championship where she ran a personal best of 11. 16 seconds in the 100-metre semifinals.
She also ran 10.92 seconds in the final to shatter the 10.95 seconds set by Tina Clayton to become the national junior record title holder. Reid also won the bronze medal in the 200 metres at the 2022 World Athletics U-20 Championships held in Colombia.
