Alcaraz withdraws from Cincinnati Open due to wrist injury

Carlos Alcaraz will miss the Cincinnati Open as he continues his recovery from a wrist injury that has kept him away from competition for several months.
The world number two men’s tennis player has not played since withdrawing from the Barcelona Open in April, forcing him to sit out Wimbledon and miss the opportunity to defend his French Open title.
Alcaraz was expected to return to action in Cincinnati, where he was preparing for his US Open title defence, set to begin on August 30th.
However, organisers of the Ohio tournament announced that the ongoing wrist issue will prevent the 23-year-old from competing when the event begins on August 11.
The former champion will now focus on his recovery as he works toward making his return to the court.
