Alexandra Eala has created history for the Philippines after defeating world number three Jessica Pegula in the Washington Open final to claim her first WTA title.
The 21-year-old battled through a tough final and became the first Filipina player to win a championship on the WTA Tour.
Eala’s rise has been years in the making, beginning with her early tennis training at age four before joining the Rafael Nadal Academy, where she developed her skills alongside some of the sport’s best.
