Arnett Gardens, Waterhouse score impressive wins over Molynes United and Harbour View

Arnett Gardens and Waterhouse FC scored big wins in the Wray and Nephew Premier League over Molynes United and Harbour View respectively on Monday night (March 24) at Drewsland.

Veteran Fabian Reid opened the scoring for Arnett Gardens after a few seconds as they trounced Molynes United 4-0. Kimani Arbouine (38th minute), Rushane Thompson (75th) and Rushike Nelson (86th) completed the rout.

It was Arnett’s 19th win from 31 games and they reduced Mount Pleasants’ lead atop of the table to just three points, sitting in second spot on 65 points. However, Mount Pleasant had played two games less.

Molynes United which was losing their 18th game, remained in 12th spot on 28 points, just three points above the relegation zone.

In the feature encounter at the Waterhouse Mini-Stadium, home team Waterhouse ran out easy winners as Javane Bryan netted a brace scoring in the 80th and 83rd minutes.

Leonardo Jibbison had opened the scoring in minute 15 as Waterhouse moved to 44 points in seventh spot, just a point adrift of the last playoff spot.

Former champions Harbour View’s poor run continued as they slumped to their 18th defeat to be in 11th spot on 28 points. They are just three points above the relegation zone which is too close for comfort.

Meanwhile on Sunday, Chapelton Maroons stunned home team Portmore United 1-0 at the Ferdie Neita Park. Javel Ellis grabbed the winner in the 31st minute as Chapelton moved away from the relegation zone into 10th spot on 29 points.

Despite the loss, Portmore United remained in fourth spot with 53 points and comfortably heading towards the playoffs.

At the Edward Seaga Stadium, Tivoli Gardens continued their surge towards a playoff spot edging Racing United 1-0 courtesy of Nickalia Fuller’s strike in the 72nd minute.

The West Kingston-based team are in the sixth spot on 45 points and holds the last playoff spot while Racing suffered a setback in their playoff hopes as they remained in the eighth spot on 41 points.

The two other games on Sunday both ended in 0-0 draw between Vere United and Dunbeholden FC and Humble Lion and Montego Bay United.

Clarendon’s Vere United remained at the bottom of the 14-team league with 23 points while Dunbeholden are ninth with 33 points.

Another Clarendon team Humble Lion are perched in the relegation zone sitting in the 13th spot with 25 points while Montego Bay United are sitting pretty in the third spot on 64 points.
