Felix Auger-Aliassime overcame a shaky start to claim his first win of this year’s ATP Finals, battling past American Ben Shelton in Turin on Wednesday (November 12).
The Canadian fought back from losing the opening set to win 4-6, 7-6 (9-7), 7-5. The 25-year-old looked sharp and showed no signs of the calf issue that troubled him in his earlier loss to Jannik Sinner.
Shelton raced ahead 4-1 in the first set, using his serve and volley game to great effect, but Auger-Aliassime began to find his rhythm. After dropping the opener, he held firm in a tense second-set tie-break before sealing victory on his third match point in the decider.
