Rapper Cardi B will be tapping into the world of publishing.
Playboy today (December 2) announced that the mother of two is set to take the role of the magazine’s first ever creative director. The company, owned by Plby Group Inc., will see Cardi B guiding Playboy’s artistic direction on digital editorials, activations and upcoming co-branded apparel and sexual wellness products.
Cardi B, in a statement, shared her excitement about the new union, highlighting that she has always been a fan of the lifestyle magazine.
“It is a dream come true to officially join the Playboy family. I can’t believe this is real. For as long as I can remember, I’ve felt connected to Playboy. It’s truly the original platform for uncensored creativity and I’m inspired by its incredible legacy of fighting for personal freedoms. I have so many ideas already — I can’t wait!”
Not only will the Be Careful artiste be the first creative director, but she will also hold the title of founding creative director and a founding member of the soon-to-be launched platform, Centerford.

The American rapper shared that the creators of today are deserving of the freedom to express themselves in an uncensored and unfiltered nature. Centerfold, she said, is a place that will allow creatives to own their own future and feel safe in their creativity and sexuality.
“I’m also excited to launch our creator-led platform, Centerfold. Creators today deserve to express themselves freely and unfiltered. They deserve to feel safe in their creativity and sexuality. And they deserve to own their future. This is what Centerfold is all about. For all those creators out there doing bold, revolutionary, truly culture-shifting things, come join me,” she said.
Expected to be launched this month, Centrefold will allow creatives the opportunity to directly interact with fans, grow their communities and construct personal content and commerce business.

Ben Kohen CEO of Plby Group Inc., who described the rapper as the embodiment Playboy brand, said he was excited about the partnership.
In addition to this, he said he did not believe a better candidate could have been chosen to be a part of the launch for Centerfold.
Kohen is anticipating that the platform will revolutionise the creator economy, just like Playboy did for the world of publishing.
“I can’t wait to see what Cardi and our team develop together with our merchandise design, development and distribution capabilities and our best-in-class content production. I also can’t think of a better creative visionary to partner with us on the launch of Centerfold. Centerfold will revolutionise the creator economy just as Playboy magazine shook up the publishing industry nearly 70 years ago — and Cardi is the perfect shepherd into this new era,” Kohen said in a statement.
