‘Cat’ Coore to be laid to rest this Thursday February 19

The Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport Olivia Grange has announced details of the farewell to the late Reggae musician, Stephen ‘Cat’ Coore.

Minister Grange said a funeral service for the co-founder of the Third World band will be held this Thursday, February 19, 2026, at the University Chapel, UWI Mona, beginning at 10 o’clock.

In addition, a musical celebration of Cat Coore’s life will take place at Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre, 36 Hope Road, from 7 pm to 11 pm on Friday, February 20, 2026.

Minister Grange reported that the events would allow the public to pay final respects to Cat Coore, whom she described as “one of the nation’s greatest Reggae Ambassadors who helped to carry Jamaica’s music to the peoples of the world.”

Minister Grange noted that Cat Coore’s contribution to Jamaican music was “immense and lasting.”
