Chelsea has named Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior as their new head coach. The 41-year-old Englishman has signed a five-and-a-half-year deal, with an option for an extra season, replacing Enzo Maresca, who departed on New Year’s Day.
Rosenior will watch from the stands when Chelsea face Fulham in the Premier League on Wednesday, and he will run his first training session on Thursday ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup third round clash with Charlton Athletic.
Strasbourg first team coach Kalifa Cisse, assistant coach Justin Walker, and head of analysis Ben Warner will join Rosenior at Stamford Bridge.
Rosenior led Strasbourg to seventh in Ligue 1 last season, earning European football for the first time in eight years, before leaving after a 1-1 draw at Nice, their fifth league game without a win.
Strasbourg, now top of the Conference League, are part of the BlueCo multi-club group, owned by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, which also controls Chelsea.
