The National Works Agency (NAW) says it is procuring parts to fix a traffic signal at the intersection of Old Braeton Road and Upper West Henderson Boulevard in Portmore St Catherine, which was damaged by a truck.
The traffic light at the frequently traversed intersection has been out of service for almost a week, causing minor traffic issues in the area.
Stacy-Ann Delevante, senior communication officer at the NWA, told Our Today that the overhead traffic light was hit by a truck that caused internal damage.
“So, there are parts that need to be replaced that we are trying to source. It is with procurement. They are moving swiftly to get the parts so that we can restore the light,” said Delevenate.
However, she could not provide a timeline for the restoration of the traffic lights.
Citizens are urged to be cautious while traversing the area. Motorists are encouraged to use the four-way intersection rule while traversing the area until the light is fixed.
