The legendary voice behind the English narration of Dragon Ball Z, Doc Harris, has passed away at the age of 76. The Canadian voice actor, renowned for his deep, commanding narration, died on Saturday, October 5 following complications from a minor surgery in September.

Harris was a beloved figure in the world of anime, particularly for his work on Dragon Ball Z, where his voice became synonymous with the show’s iconic style during its run from 1996 to 2003. His contributions spanned over 200 episodes, and he was celebrated for bringing intensity, suspense and excitement to the English dub of the beloved series.

Harris’s influence went beyond Dragon Ball Z, with voice roles in series like My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and video games such as Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2. He began his career in Canadian radio in the 1960s before transitioning to voice acting.

Colleagues, including Dragon Ball Z star Ian James Corlett, who voiced Goku, paid tribute to Harris on Instagram, remembering him as a mentor and a friend with a passion for music and film. Corlett expressed his sorrow at Harris’s passing, acknowledging the deep impact he had on his career.

“Rest assured (and in peace) you are missed Doc,” he wrote.
