Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett met with Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airlines, at the Jamaica Tourist Board’s exhibition stand at Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai on Tuesday.
The historic visit formed part of the official opening of the 31st staging of Arabian Travel Market.
The Jamaican delegation, led by Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett, welcomed Al Maktoum with warmth and gratitude as he explored Jamaica’s vibrant cultural and tourism offerings. The visit underscored the strengthening of bilateral ties between Jamaica and the UAE, and the growing interest in Caribbean destinations among Middle Eastern visitors.
“We are honoured by His Highness’s visit, which signifies the recognition of Jamaica as a dynamic and emerging destination in the global tourism landscape,” said Minister Bartlett. “This moment reinforces the value of cultural diplomacy and our efforts to diversify our tourism markets.”

During the visit, Al Maktoum was presented with two books on tourism resilience, co-authored by Bartlett and Professor Lloyd Waller, executive director of the Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre. “This visit highlights the growing connection Jamaica is having with the Middle East and we are working to foster this relationship that will bolster our tourism sector,” said Bartlett.
Arabian Travel Market, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from April 28 to May 1, is one of the leading global travel and tourism events, bringing together industry professionals and government representatives from across the world. Jamaica’s participation at ATM 2025 is part of a broader strategy to engage new markets and foster international partnerships.
