Firearm, counterfeit US currency seized in police operation in Trelawny, 2 arrested

The Trelawny Police Division seized USD $195,000 in counterfeit notes, along with a firearm and ammunition, in a pre-dawn operation in Wait-A-Bit, Trelawny, on Tuesday, February 03.

Reports from the Falmouth Police are that a police team led by Superintendent Velonique Campbell, commanding officer for the division, armed with warrants under the Law Reform and the Firearm Acts, carried out a series of targeted raids.

During the search, a Smith and Wesson Springfield firearm with a magazine affixed containing one 9mm cartridge, along with USD$195,000 in counterfeit notes, was seized at a premises in the area.

One male and a female were taken into custody in relation to the seizure.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) says it remains committed to protecting communities and safeguarding the lives of law-abiding citizens as teams tirelessly work to remove illegal firearms from the streets and to partner with residents in creating a safer and more secure environment for everyone.
