Dancehall’s Curvy Diva certainly represents what it means to be multifaceted with her many talents.
Born Yanique Barrett in Kingston on April 13, 1985. She gained popularity as the host of one of the most popular television shows in the Caribbean, Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall, which has since been discontinued.
In 2017 Barrett began putting her vocals to use and gave birth to her debut single – Lifestyle. The track gained much attention and introduced her as a genuine recording artiste.
The Curvy Diva has not slowed down her musical rise since. Over the years, the entertainer has landed collaborations with artistes such as Demarco, I-Octane, Ky-Mani Marley, Gyptian and Wasp.
Yanique is also known for her business exploits. The self-taught chef and businesswoman launched her Dining With Curvy brand during the pandemic and has watched it blossom into two physical locations. The restauranteur plans on expanding business to create a restaurant chain across the island.

Barrett obtained a degree in media and was trained in video production professionally at CPTC.
The love for entertainment and the camera runs in the family as her father, Astley Barrett worked as a camera man and editor for 16 years in the media landscape.
Taking on the stage
You may remember her as the host of the talent show Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall but that wasn’t the first TV gig for Barrett.
The curvy Instagram sensation actually got her break in media in 2006 when she was task with hosting the popular entertainment TV show ‘In Di dance.’ Remember?
Barrett is a serial entrepreneur not only is she restaurateur but also founder of the brand Yadelco production and has developed several dancehall events such as Elite Wednesday, River Sundays and Dancehall Heroes.
Yanique goes rogue!
The Curvy Diva is of a Seventh- Day Adventist background. Even though she may not be singing on the church choir these days, she still serves an all-knowing God to whom she prays each morning.
Barrett who has since been described as a ‘badventist ’received a Christian education growing up as she is an alum of esteemed Seventh – Day Adventist institutions in Jamaica – Kingsway Prep, Kingsway High, and Northern Caribbean University.
PS: ‘Badventist’ is a term commonly used to describe a member of the church gone ‘rogue’.
