Magna Motors Dealership Limited, the exclusive distributor of Hyundai vehicles in Jamaica, has joined forces with recording artiste and brand ambassador Christopher Martin and his Christopher Martin Foundation to support the Bright Beginnings Charity Group’s “Bringing Hope After Hurricane Melissa” initiative.
The partnership brought comfort, care, and hope to more than 200 children aged 10 to 16 who were displaced by Hurricane Melissa in Trelawny, particularly in the communities of Zion and Kinloss, as well as to those sheltered at Holland High School and William Knibb High School.
Led by a group of compassionate Campion College students, the Bright Beginnings initiative spearheaded a youth-driven relief effort that provided hot meals, hygiene kits, snacks, juices, water, clothing, phone charging stations, medical support, and comfort items to children and their families whose lives were disrupted by the hurricane.
The project, supported by the Christopher Martin Foundation, Hyundai Jamaica, and other corporate partners, mobilised volunteers and distributed approximately 300 care packages to the affected communities on November 2, 2025.
To aid with relief efforts, Hyundai Jamaica provided three Santa Fe SUVs from its local lineup—the Calligraphy, Hybrid Signature, and Signature models to help transport volunteers and supplies. The vehicles were selected for their strength, reliability, and versatility, attributes that proved essential in navigating challenging conditions while delivering aid.
Erick Gutierrez, Acting General Manager of Magna Motors Jamaica, said the company’s involvement reflects Hyundai’s ongoing commitment to the Jamaican people. He stated, “At Hyundai Jamaica, we believe in standing with the nation in both good times and challenging moments. Hurricane Melissa tested the resilience of many families, and as a brand deeply rooted in Jamaica, we are honoured to play our part in helping rebuild hope. Whether through our vehicles, our people, or our partnerships, Hyundai will continue to drive care, compassion, and connection.”
Hyundai’s contribution forms part of its broader commitment to national recovery. The company is currently making arrangements to partner with the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) to provide commercial vehicles for the continued transportation and distribution of relief supplies to affected parishes.
Praysi Garcia, Director of Marketing at Magna Motors Headquarters, described the effort as a reflection of Hyundai’s values. She said, “This initiative is deeply personal because it demonstrates how compassion and collaboration can move a nation forward. Supporting our brand ambassador Christopher Martin in this effort reflects what Hyundai stands for: empathy, innovation, and purpose. As Magna Motors marks its 10th year in Jamaica, our commitment to the people remains stronger than ever.”
Now celebrating its 10th anniversary in Jamaica, Magna Motors continues to emphasise that its purpose extends beyond mobility. Through ongoing partnerships, community programs, and national initiatives, the company reaffirms its role as a partner in Jamaica’s growth and recovery.
