ISSA High school sports resume with basketball, netball games

High school sports resumed with both netball and basketball games across the island on Monday, following their postponement after the destructive passage of Hurricane Melissa on Tuesday, October 28.

Manchester High completed the double over Munro College in basketball. In the Under-16 game, Manchester won 110-13 with Jaquain Palmer top scoring with 28 points. Shawn Bogle scored 20 points as Manchester won 95-18 in the Under-19 match.

In other rural area games, St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS), still recovering from Hurricane Melissa’s damage, turned back Christiana High 21-8 and 69-17 in under-16 and Under-19, respectively.

Belair High defeated Old Harbour High 56-30 in Under-19 competition but lost 45-20 in the Under-16 encounter.

In the Corporate Area, Kingston College (KC) hit the century mark, dismissing Vauxhall High 100-16 in the Under-19 encounter, as Nazim Subratie scored an impressive 39 points. But Vauxhall turned the tables in the Under-16 game, winning 56-48 as Andrew Marshall hit 18 points for the winners.

Campion College turned back Ardenne High 96-25 in the Under-16 game, and Camperdown High defeated Yallahs High 69-16, with Kemani Headley leading all scorers with 16 points. Heri Leconte scored 15 points and 19 rebounds.

In urban Under-16 netball, Queens School toppled STATHS 45-9, Ardenne defeated Holy Childhood 26-12, St Catherine High whipped Holy Trinity 20-8, and Jose Marti High defeated Excelsior High 23-19.
